Whats up yall. Peep this new remix from Atropolis and I. Heavy on the colombian sound known as Tambora from the Colombian state of Bolivar. It is based on the use of tambors , hand clapping, and singing. We did some work to it but wanted to respect the integrity of the music. check more information on her here. http://colombiareports.com/colombia-news/culture/10759-martina-camargo-to-represent-colombia-on-world-tour.html

9. Atropolis - Lamento Cumbiambero

Atropolis - Lamento Cumbiambero

Upon return from a recent trip to the deepest of crates in Colombia, Cut Chemist and Beats of All-Nations sought out to remix a unique set of dusty records, each different from the last, with an equally diverse list of producers. Going Back to Cali: Cut Chemist’s Colombian Crates Remixed is MORE THAN CUMBIA, its a reflection on a tropical culture rich in spirit, creativity and passion strung together with field recordings found along the way. These records were bought in Cali, Colombia during Patronio Alvarez Festival last year, hence the name. Our trip begins with folklore Colombiano favorites Los Corraleros de Majagual over a crunchy boom-bap by Co. Fee from Los Angeles’ beat collective, My Hollow Drum. Dance Kill Move (Stockholm, Sweden) adds some serious low end to Los Jovenes de Hierro’s classic charanga, “Ritmo Sabroso.” Ubiquity recording artist, currently residing in Colobmia, Bosq and Yukicito of La Junta (Los Angeles) contribute absolute party starters, while El Dusty’s “Mi Chola” give Los Teen Agers a taste Corpus Christi, TX. Atropolis (Queens) pays homage with a heavy stripped down edit of Julio y su Combo’s “Lamento Cumbiambero” and Los Chicos Altos (Barcelona) add in some rub-a-dub flavor on Los Hermanos Tuiran’s “Lluvia.” In addition we explore national treasures and the lesser known, new styles of chirimía, porro, pachanga, salsa and cumbia as interpreted by Sumohair (Los Angeles), Gabe Real (Pomona CA) and Greece duo SUPERSAN (aka Panama Cardoon & Mister Kentro). credits released June 21, 2017 Brought to you by: A STABLE SOUND & BEATS OF ALL-NATIONS Arrangement & Field Recordings: Cut Chemist Project Coordination: Mike Styles Cover Design: Joseph Moreno Promo Only.

19. He's A LIzard (Wolkoff x Atropolis)

He's A LIzard (Wolkoff x Atropolis)

Brooklyn's singer/songwriter/force of nature Wolkoff has teamed up with renowned NYC producer Atropolis to share their heavy new track “He’s A Lizard” (SoundCloud). This single is for all you Valentine's Day resistors and survivors of love gone awry. The two approached the song as a stylistic homage to the spirit of dancehall; with a syncopated 1/16th note rhythm that sets the stage for staccato horns and short stabby chords to accent the mesmerizing kick and bass. At more intimate moments, Atropolis harnesses the production through dreamlike synths. A fan of using clinking coins and smashing glass for claps in his drum kits, he accents the jam with shattering bottles which carries its own symbolic weight in the context of Wolkoff's uneasy lyrics and composition. Wolkoff, the eponymous e-pop project from Brooklyn’s own Joanie Wolkoff, is fresh off a prolific 2016, which saw the release of her critically acclaimed debut album Without Shame (SoundCloud + Spotify), along with the release of her second collaborative single “Me & Mine” (SoundCloud) with The Hood Internet, and the long-awaited second GEMOLOGY single, “Come Around” (SoundCloud). She’s already hard at work on the follow-up to Without Shame, which will be out later this year… stay tuned! This is Wolkoff’s first collaboration with Atropolis, who adeptly balances trained expression in classical piano and jazz guitar in a transcendent blend of ethnomusicology. Having collaborated with international artists like Midival Punditz (India), Dom La Nena (Brazil), Madosini (South Africa), and co-producing a remix for grammy award winning artists Celia Cruzand Willie Colon, Atropolis now joins forces with Wolkoff to bring you this chameleonic track.
