The project culminated in a live concert at Ballina Arts Centre on Dec 12th 2015 and series of mastered recordings which were launched on March 5th 2016. This programme was made possible as a result of a new partnership initiative between The Arts Council of Ireland and Music Generation to support the work of professional musicians in a range of ambitious music education programmes. This partnership is aimed at adding significant value to the current core tuition being carried out by Music Generation programmes throughout Ireland. A radio interview on the The Chatroom with Angela Faull, CRC fm, featuring Music Generation Mayo Co-ordinator Kate McKeon and voice student Naoise Hughes from Cong, Co.Mayo. Naoise was was one of seven teenagers to accompany The Edge when he performed at the Sistine Chapel on Sat Apr 30th 2016 - the first rock star to perform in the historic venue in Vatican City. Naoise and her Music Generation counterparts from Cork and Carlow sang four songs with The Edge in what was a spectacular and highly memorable performance. Music Generation Mayo is thrilled and proud to offer this opportunities to a young people from Mayo, all the young singers involved were great ambassadors for their local areas!
